THE SYMPHONY IN THE 20TH CENTURY

Fri 18 Nov 2016 @ 17:00 - Sun 20 Nov 2016 @ 15:00

£289

This weekend, the second of two such events, will explore aspects of the rich legacy of symphonies from the 18th century until around 1900. Various great symphonies will be featured, and our music examples using CD and DVD will be played on excellent hi-fi equipment.

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Wroxton House Hotel is set in the beautiful thatched village of Wroxton. Dating in parts from 1649 and beautifully appointed, it is an idyllic retreat only 4 miles from Banbury, on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Terry Barfoot is Director of Arts in Residence and writes widely on music for Britain’s leading journals, orchestras, festivals and record companies. He lectures at venues throughout the country and is Publications Consultant to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Guests will arrive on Friday from 5pm, and depart after tea on Sunday. Arts in Residence and Wroxton House offer an excellent cuisine including dinner with wine, and a traditional Sunday lunch. The weekend is designed as an informal ‘house party’ and guests need only the ability to enjoy music; no technical knowledge is required.
