A one day course at Zinc Arts on the London/Essex border creating works of art. Course fees include tuition and use of workroom, all meals and refreshments, an en suite bedroom for single occupancy and free wifi.
On this one day course you will have an opportunity to explore key techniques associated with Silk Painting – watercolour effects, salt patterning and gutta resist designs. There is no need to be able to draw, just have an interest in exploring the magical qualities of vibrant colour and design when painting on silk.
We will also explore colour layering effects and incorporate print and stamp overlays allowing each participant to produce unique and exciting results. During the day you will produce a number of sample effects ideal for using in cards, pictures and a wide range of textile projects. This course is suitable for all levels from beginners to experienced. This course will make use of Iron Fix paints and Guttas.
There will be a £20.00 charge per student to cover the materials for the day. The materials will include: iron fix silk paints, guttas, additional colour medium as required, salts, Habotai 8 silk fabric and one 12-inch sq stretcher frame. Additional frames will be available on the day at £4 each. Melinda Berkovitz has been teaching and working as a textile artist for over 25 years.
