SUMMARY:Blackwork Embroidery
DESCRIPTION:\nBlackwork embroidery became popular during the reign of King Henry VIII. Introduced into the Tudor court by Queen Catherine of Aragon\, the traditional style is worked on linen using the weave as a basis to count stitches. A variety of different stitches will be taught using a range of different weighted threads. Butterflies were popular motifs to use as they represented a life cycle of natural beauty. \n\n \n
