SUMMARY:Making Art Cloth - Textile Workshop
DESCRIPTION:\nAn experimental weekend residential textile workshop at Zinc Arts on the London/Essex border. Course fees include tuition and use of workroom\, all meals and refreshments\, an en suite bedroom for single occupancy and free wifi. \nOn this experimental textile weekend you will be able to try out a range of different techniques as you design your own art cloth ready for you to make it into quilts\, clothes\, bags etc. Some of the techniques you will learn include screen-printing using various resist processes such as freezer paper\, flour and soy wax resist. You will also have an opportunity to work with Thermofax screens and trans foils\, and try your hand at printing your own designs with funky foam stamps. Annette will give tuition on design and colour throughout the weekend. This approach will augment your own ideas\, enabling you to enhance your skills as you produce some very original art cloth. Often the most effective designs can include quite simple shapes\, so do bring along your own design ideas and source material which you can translate into colourful cloth. \nAnnette is an award winning textile artist and art quilter\, who also teaches City and Guilds courses to Diploma level. She is a qualified teacher [Cert Ed] and a Tutor on the prestigious Quilt Judging course run by the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles of which she is an ex-President. Of her own work she says “I enjoy the process of making. Leave me in a studio with paint\, soldering iron\, and a heat gun and I am happy. If my work wins awards\, or is selected for juried shows\, then that is a bonus.” She currently uses her own photographs in her work\, together with mixed media. \n\n \n
