SUMMARY:Massenet’s Cendrillon [Festi’Val de Musique Valois] (Cinderella)
DESCRIPTION:\nCombine your love of singing with a holiday in Provence this July! \nIf you are a music lover and looking to do something completely different with your Summer holiday this year\, joining our chorus [no audition necessary] for our Holiday Production of Massenet’s wonderful opera Cendrillon in Provence may be what you are looking for. \nThis charming opera is based on the fairy tale of its name and was given its first performance in Paris in 1899. It will be rehearsed over a ten day period; rehearsals will be conducted in English whilst the score will be sung in French. Four performances will take place at the open air theatres of Le Val\, Le Chateau de Carces and Cotignac. Additionally\, you are invited to take part in two public concerts in the medieval town of Le Val. \nAn excellent team of experienced vocal coaches will work with you throughout the rehearsal period of Cendrillon\, and also for the public concerts. Our version will be carefully abridged; ensuring everyone can give of their best vocally and dramatically. \nAs well as some fabulous sight seeing trips planned\, this will be a great opportunity to share the unique experience of being part of an opera production and you will also be ‘treading the boards’ with one or two young professional singers who will be engaged to sing the lead parts. \nThe holiday culminates in some public performances of the opera and there are also two optional concerts to take part in during the Festival\, so lots to look forward to! \nThis music holiday is ideal for couples as well as families and single travellers as it is a great way to meet new like minded people\, and to experience being part of an artistic ‘community’. If one of your party may not be keen on performing\, there will be plenty of opportunities to help out on the production side and back stage. Alternatively they can just kick back and enjoy the beautiful pool and surrounding areas of the Provence Vert region.\nFor those with a little more experience\, there will be an opportunity to audition for some of the smaller parts and covers. Auditions for small roles and covers will be accepted by filling in the form on the website: http://lovetosingholidays.com/audition.  The first round of auditions will take place in March and April in London and you can send in audio recordings if you are unable to attend. \n  \n\n \n
