SUMMARY:The Power of Baroque
DESCRIPTION:\nBaroque music and Baroque art are well established. But what is Baroque literature? In search of an answer to that\, we shall read and discuss passages from writers such as Thomas Browne\, John Bunyan\, George Herbert and John Milton. We shall place what we read in the context of the sound of Monteverdi\, Handel\, Vivaldi and Bach. We shall also look at Rubens\, Rembrandt\, Velasquez and Vermeer. This will enable us to consider what the defining qualities of ‘Baroque’ are. All-comers welcome. \n\n \n
