Despite the large number of Houses and Gardens, which open their doors to the public (over 1500 in the UK), there are over twice this number, which are rarely, if ever, open to the general public. As with last year’s programme, which was dedicated solely to the private houses and gardens of Devon, this year sees a number of houses from both Somerset and Dorset, being added to a further group from Devon. Over five days we will visit a range of stunning properties and gardens spanning over five hundred years of architectural and garden design history. The course will start with an introductory overview lecture of aspects of the development of houses and gardens of the West Country after which we will depart with a delicious packed lunch for the first of our visits.
There will be a supplement of £135 for this course towards the cost of transport and entrance fees.
