SUMMARY:The Four Seasons in Music and Painting
DESCRIPTION:\nOur weekend will explore the inspiration painters and composers have drawn from the seasons of the year. The featured artists will include Botticelli\, Breughel the Elder\, Monet\, Turner and Friedrich\, while there will be music by Vivaldi\, Haydn\, Delius\, Tchaikovsky and others. \nAbingworth Hall occupies a country estate that dates back some seven centuries and stands beside its own lake in seven acres of parkland within the tranquil Weald. The hotel is well appointed with more than twenty en suite bedrooms. \nTerry Barfoot writes widely on music for Britain’s leading journals\, orchestras\, festivals and record companies. He lectures at Oxford University and venues throughout the country\, is Publications Consultant to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Director of Arts in Residence. \nTim Gwyther is an experienced art historian and practising artist who has exhibited widely both in London and the regions. He has taken part in several Arts in Residence events. \nWe will meet on Friday afternoon at 5pm and depart on Sunday afternoon. Arts in Residence and Abingworth Hall offer an excellent cuisine including dinners with wine and a traditional Sunday lunch. \n\n \n
