SUMMARY:The medieval village landscape\, 1000-1500AD (online)
DESCRIPTION:\nThis interactive\, practical course introduces participants to the ‘grammar’ of the medieval landscape. It explains how visitors to villages can use evidence from the landscape around them – roads and hedges\, buildings and greens – as well as from maps and other sources\, to unravel the origins of many settlements. No background knowledge of medieval village landscape is assumed\, and so the course is open to anyone who has an interest in understanding their local landscape. Many of the approaches we will discuss are widely applicable. The application of knowledge to a specific location will mean that this course is also suitable for students who have a background in this subject. \n\n \n
