SUMMARY:Willow Weaving 
DESCRIPTION:\nThis two day course will be an introduction to working with willow. Students will learn all the basic techniques required to make a traditional basket. We will look at aspects of design and construction and also touch on planting and growing your own willow. There will be the opportunity to try some willow sculpture. Bring secateurs and a sharp knife if you have them and leave with a nice basket! \nTrevor Leat cultivates some of his willow at Durhamhill. You can see the willow growing and learn how to cultivate it. \nTrevor is one of the foremost creators of willow sculptures in the UK. \nUsing traditional techniques combining beauty with functionality\, he has been weaving willow to great effect for over 30 years. \nAlthough he creates baskets\, garden furniture and even willow coffins\, it is for his willow sculpture he is best known. \nFrom lifesize animals and figures\, through to giant willow sculptures spectacularly burned at festivals and events such as The Wickerman Festival\, The Edinburgh Hogmanay Celebrations and The Burns Light Festival in Dumfries. \nBased in coastal Galloway\, Southern Scotland\, his work is exhibited widely in galleries\, and seen by tens of thousands at festivals and events around the UK and beyond. \nFor more information about Trevor Leat and his work\, please explore his website\, www.trevorleat.co.uk or contact him using the details on his website. \nCourse fee £250\, includes 2 night stay (Frid 22nd & Sat 23rd November) in 4 star accommodation or in large room in main house\, and food. \n\n \n
