ARCA welcomes 6 new members nationwide

ARCA is delighted to welcome 6 new members in 2013.  All members offer short courses & residential lifelong learning opportunities for adults of all ages.   New on the website this year :

The Arvon Foundation – Arvon runs an annual programme of residential courses at four rural writing houses – in Devon, Shropshire, Inverness-shire and Yorkshire.  They cover a wide range of genres – from Fiction to Screenwriting, and Poetry to Food Writing. Grants are available to assist with course fees.

The Boat Building Academy run courses in boat building, woodworking, sail making and associated skills from 2 days to 38 weeks. Based on Lyme Regis’ famous Monmouth Beach the Short Course Programme runs twice yearly in winter and summer.

Durhamhill is a luxurious ecofriendly house in the heart of the Galloway countryside.    Not only will you feel inspired by the course subject, you will also make new friends and have a lot of fun.  Courses include Creative Writing, Ceramics & Stained Glass, Storytelling, Songwriting, Public Speaking, Painting & Photography.

Embercombe  is a charity and social enterprise established to champion a way of living that celebrates the opportunities inherent in this challenging time and that inspires people to contribute energetically towards the emergence of a socially just, environmentally sustainable and spiritually fulfilling human presence on earth.

Ludlow Mascall Centre is a beautiful Victorian Building situated in the historic town of Ludlow.   The Centre offers  residential Arts and Crafts courses including Book Art, Textiles, Silver Jewellery and Paper Craft.

North East Centre for Lifelong Learning are offering a series of summer schools in 2013.  “Explorations” take you deep into Northumbrian history, culture and landscapes with specialist guide-lecturers and tutors who know the region, who are authorities in their subjects and who are all university-level teachers.
