Over this weekend you will discover how to create beaded bezels for cabochons, as well as bead-weaving and bead embroidery techniques to create a bracelet, brooch or pendant encrusted with a host of wonderful beads and crystals. Starting with an overview of bead embroidery, Sally will show you how to consider various aspects of design, and how to select colours and materials.
You will then create a bezelled cabochon piece that you can use as a pendant, brooch or incorporate into a larger piece of bead embroidery. Techniques for embellishing the cabochon with more beads and crystals will be demonstrated. Many approaches to bead embroidery will be explored, with demonstrations of the commonly used stitches, so you can choose to create jewellery or an embellished piece that is unique to you. Edging and finishing techniques will also be covered along with advice on what clasps and closures to use, how to add these to your piece, and how to finish your work, adding brooch backs or pendants loops.
This course is suitable for beginners and improvers. There is an additional cost of students’ material of approximately £15-£20 payable to the tutor.
