Canal Art is a British folk art with origins in the 19th century, developing as a way of decorating the commercial barges which carried goods through the canal system. You will learn the basic techniques involved in creating roses, daisies, forget-me-nots and leaves with embellishments of borders, swags and flicks to bring your designs to life. We will practise with acrylic paint on paper or papier-mâché objects and you will be able to use the skills learned to work with enamel paint on metal or wood.
