Silver clay is magical stuff. It is a mixture of tiny particles of pure silver mixed with a binder.
* work with silver clay and enamel
* create your own original jewellery
* embellish your work to make it unique to you
* ideal day course for all, whatever your skill level
The clay binder enables you to mould the silver into the shapes and designs you want. Once the binder is burnt away – either by firing in a kiln or using a butane torch – you are left with the beauty of pure silver.
In this one day course you will first learn how to make an item of jewellery from 10g of silver clay; Toni will explain a little bit about enamelling on silver which will help in your design. Then in the afternoon we will take a little time to enamel our pieces – that is, fuse glass to silver using powdered glass (enamel). Since we are using silver, we’ll be enamelling little accents to embellish rather than enamelling the whole piece. And you should expect to take home one or two pieces of original silver jewellery that you have created.
