This year’s course contrasts the Dillington area with Purbeck in Dorset. Together with lectures, there are two field visits, locally to the Fleet Air Arm Museum’s reserve collection, Ilchester bridges, Dawe’s twine works and the Ham Hill quarries. We stray into distant Purbeck where ball clay workings, tramways, railways and limekilns survive within spectacular scenery. No previous knowledge needed and all-comers welcome but please note there will be some walking over rough and uneven ground during our visits.
