Italian or corded quilting, worked on two or more layers of fabric, involves yarn or cord threaded through a channel from the back, resulting in a pattern of raised lines on a flat background.
Trapunto, from the Italian for ‘to quilt’ is achieved by slitting and padding the underside of a quilt, resulting in raised areas. Sylvia will show you how to produce this 3-D quilting technique, so you can create beautiful designs with great depth. Corded and stuffed quilting looks complicated, but it is very easy to do. This course is all hand work, and is suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced stitchers and quilters.
Sylvia will also introduce you to her easy version of Le Boutis reversible corded work which originates in the Provence region of France.
