Religion in Roman Britain

Mon 11 Jul 2016 @ 9:00 - 16:00

£50.00

Tolerant Roman attitudes to religion ensured that native shrines and practices survived, and often flourished, in Roman Britain. Much of our knowledge of native deities comes from Roman inscriptions; to these can be added the eastern ‘Mystery religions’, closed sects with notions of salvation. This day course will look at the range of evidence, both archaeological and literary, for Romano–British religion. All-comers welcome.
