Drawing inspiration from ideas surrounding the landscape (gardens, plants) or abstract interpretations (Sonia Delaunay’s Orphism art, Cubism) using found materials as a resource, you will explore direct approaches for creating colour and movement in cloth.
A whole range of techniques will be covered such as transfer printing with plants and stencils, simple resists methods, stitch and layering. By exchanging ideas and collaborating with others on the course, you will develop your own creation in terms of new surfaces from found materials for textile mixed media work and stitch.
You will explore variations of straight stitch, hand and machine work to add a diverse range of textures, layers and structure to the work as you progress in the development of your own figurative or abstract projects, always mentored by Cas, a highly experienced artist and tutor.
