This practical Summer School in the traditional craft of woodcarving is designed both for complete beginners and for the more experienced who wish to advance their skills. Presented in two parts, Part 1 (F317) can be extended by a further two days over the weekend offering more time to explore and enjoy this fascinating subject, see Part 2 (F560) . Beginners will learn how to use appropriate tools by carving a simple relief subject and then proceed to a more advanced design of their choice. Improvers embark on a new or ongoing project, in relief or in the round. Tuition is by demonstration and guidance on a small group or individual basis, allowing participants to progress at their own pace in a relaxed atmosphere. Prepared patterns, diagrams and woodcarving literature are available for inspiration and reference. A range of carving chisels is provided for new students and lime wood is available at cost.
