After a photo-shoot around the grounds of Farncombe Estate, the course will continue with a structured programme that will show the benefits of two important features of the Adobe software – Organiser and Edit.

This course is designed for lovers of photography, from competent beginner to aspiring professional. Whilst there will be a strong element of hands on and practical photography, incorporating primarily portrait and landscape photography there will also be plenty of discussion on photography in general as we look at the work of established photographers and the visual impact of their work. You are also encouraged to bring along your own work for appraisal. All types of cameras are welcome from digital to film to smart phone and time will be spent discussing how to get the best from our cameras by looking at the technical issues of cameras.

During your visit to Dumfries and Galloway we aim to explore and photograph some unique and varied locations in the area. We will then spend time, using Photoshop, processing your images, and, if required, we have the facility to print high quality images up to A2 size.

The beauty of our countryside and its wildlife has inspired film-makers from the silent era through black and white documentaries to the amazing nature films of today. Throughout the twentieth century the films were shown in different ways and with different intentions. Without doubt these have influenced the way in which we think about the countryside and nature. We shall watch a variety of films with plenty of opportunity for students to discuss responses to this changing world.
