Arvon’s residential creative writing courses take place in four beautiful countryside locations across the UK, offering a mix of group workshops, individual tutorials, and time and space to write. Each week is led by two published authors and a third writer visits mid-week. There are morning workshops, one to one tutorials, and plenty of time and space to write.

Weeks with availability this Summer include:

Starting to Write TV Drama, Jul 21st – Jul 26th, Lumb Bank, Yorkshire.
Ever thought of writing a TV drama script? How do you get started and how do you keep going? Targeted towards new writers, we will aim to have fun, build confidence, technique and knowledge and leave you with the tools to keep going once it’s over.
Tutors: Sarah Salway, Shaun Levin, Guest: Tristan Gooley

Writing and Place, Aug 18th – Aug 23rd, The Hurst, Shropshire.
This practical course will deepen your understanding of a sense of place in both fiction and creative non-fiction, and introduce you to new ways of looking at and engaging with the landscape. These five days will encourage you to map your own or a character’s journey through a landscape; look closely at the ways in which surroundings impact on psychology and explore the symbolism in the natural landscape.
Tutors: Mark Illis, Pippa McCarthy, Guest: Diane Whitley
