Discover the secrets of hand quilting in a weekend just north of London
Here is your opportunity to develop your hand quilting expertise with one of the best tutors in the field. On this weekend you will discover all the essential steps to produce beautiful hand quilting, including how to mark out a cushion-sized pattern using one of Barbara’s exclusive designs. Barbara will show you the correct way to baste layers together and begin stitching, and there will be lots of information on what markers to use, various marking methods, battings, basting, and of course the quilting stitch itself.
This course will feature ample guided stitching time and in-depth demonstrations. Barbara will also include an introduction to some of the basics of historic wholecloth design, together with feathers, cables, and some simple pattern making. Barbara’s particular speciality is traditional hand quilting and quilting design. She has been teaching, writing and designing quilts for more than 30 years, during which time she has encouraged and inspired quilters of all skill levels through her workshops,
demonstrations and lectures. She has six signature fabric collections to her credit, and since 1991, has designed quilting stencils for Quilting Creations International. Barbara’s books The Essential Quilter and Quilt It! are both widely regarded as classic reference works for quilters.
