Love books?
Listed on January 11, 2017 in Blogs!, Crafts & Textiles, WritingThere are a few places left on our Beginners’ Bookbinding course, April 6th – 9th.
Tutor Jim MacWilliams began his bookbinding as a restorer for Edinburgh University before going on to teach the subject at colleges in Oxford, Liverpool, London and Leeds. There’s not much he doesn’t know about traditional bookbinding and how to teach it! You will learn the basic skills of bookbinding, find out which tools you will need to set up at home, and leave with your own beautiful cased book, complete with endpapers. (There’s another course in June to further the skills you’ve learnt if you decide to that.)
The Grange has a fully equipped bindery specially designed for tuition, with individual workstations for up to 10 people. We also have a lovely country house in the Shropshire countryside so you can enjoy a country house weekend with great home-cooked food as well as learning a new skill.
